BBC NEWS | Europe | Feeling vindicated in Moscow: "if the US and its allies felt free to intervene in Kosovo, and later Iraq, why should Russia not do the same in its own back yard, to help its own citizens in South Ossetia?"

Well, the Ossetians aren't really Russian citizens. It'd be like American citizens in Brownsville deciding they wanted to be Mexicans, but Big Bad Texas won't let 'em. So the Mexican government says "Sure! You can be Mexican citizens!", then goes to liberate those "mexican" citizens.
But they're not ethnically Georgians, either, and they were more closely allied to Russia historically, and expressed desire for independence from the beginning.
I'm really not cheering Russia here; I just can't stand the posturing from our government and media on the subject.
Let's just declare them Colombians and invite them all over to work, shall we?
I'm going to have to respond with a resounding:
Huh!?
